HOW TO BECOME A CA (SA) ?

Subject choice

- Be sure to take MATHS - Not Maths Literacy in Grade 10
- Achieve at least level 5 MATHS in your final NSC exam.

Degree

Study a BCom undergraduate and postgraduate degree (CTA) at an SAICA accredited univeristy

Practical experience

- Graduates: Complete 3 years of practical training at a registered training office e.g. NHC
- Undergraduate:
Complete a 5 year training contract whilst enrolled at a SAICA accredited university .

Qualifying Exams

1.) The Initial Test of Competence (ITC)
2.) The Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)

Register @ SAICA

Once you have passed all of your exams and completed your SAICA training contract you can register to become a CA (SA)

NHC is a registered SAICA training office. We offer 3 year training contracts for graduates and 5 year training contracts for matriculants to enthusiastic individuals who can contribute and participate in our long term success. At NHC we help to create success in the careers of our trainees to become Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors.

WHAT IS A TRAINING CONTRACT

-It is a 3 year agreement between NHC (a training office) and the graduate (trainee).
OR
-It is a 5 year agreement between NHC (a training office) and the undergraduate (trainee).

This allows you to fulfil the required practical experience while completing your studies.

WHAT ABOUT THEORY?

You can obtain your Bcom Accounting degree or an equivalent CA(SA) undergraduate qualification at any SAICA-accredited university. Followed by a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) or equivalent (honours) qualification.

WHAT TYPE OF EXPERIENCE WILL I GET AT A
